A common misconception is that you have to be fit to start CrossFit. This could be no further from the truth! Everybody can do CrossFit if they want to. It doesn’t matter how old you are or if you are a beginner or an experienced athlete. The secret is this: at CrossFit you follow group lessons, which are adjusted to your current ability. Men, women, young, old: CrossFit is for everyone! We train together, but each of us on our own level. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
In CrossFit we want to achieve allround fitness. By combining movements from weightlifting, gymnastics, powerlifting, rowing and track & field we create a training program that constantly varies and focuses on functional movements. Functional movements are movements that mimic real-life activities, such as squatting, jumping, lifting, and throwing. These types of exercises have a practical purpose and improve your ability to perform daily tasks.
Another attraction for many people is the community aspect of CrossFit. When you join a CrossFit gym, you become part of a supportive and inclusive community that encourages you to achieve your goals. You will work out with a group of people who are all striving to improve their fitness, and you will have the guidance of experienced coaches who motivate and encourage you at every training.

Because you train with functional movements, you train all your muscles and you will soon find out that your body is beginning to change. When your muscles gain strength, your body also changes and becomes tighter. It won’t take long until you’ll see the results of your hard work! Soon you will be pushing boundaries and setting new goals for yourself. You will probably do things you never expected yourself to do! It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or experienced CrossFitter, you can all train together easily. We’ll adapt the weights and intensity of the program to your level. So we’ll do our workouts together, but all on our own level and with our own goals.
We can imagine that it might feel a bit scary to start something new. But if you just start you will be surprised how much fun CrossFit is! The people and their fitness levels in our groups are really diverse. Some of them live to train, but the majority trains to live a fulfilling life. What we all have in common is that we enjoy working up a good sweat, and a big smile together.
If you join our CrossFit gym in Amsterdam East you start with a 2-week trial. You can join 5 lessons and see for yourself what CrossFit is like. A great opportunity to experience our classes and the fantastic atmosphere at Vastberaden. Your 2-week trial kicks off with our basics class. In this lesson we’ll teach you the technique behind the most common movements we use in CrossFit. We’ll also give you an idea of what to expect when you come to your first class. After completing the basics class you can join any class you like! You can sign up for a two week trial every other Thursday.
After the 2 weeks are over, you choose which membership best fits you. Our Regular membership is ideal if you want to train two to three times a week. If you do so consistently you will see improvements in your fitness that are hard to imagine right now. If we would tell you, you would probably not believe us! 😉 Fell in love with CrossFit big time? Each training is built around the CrossFit Workout of the Day (WOD). The WOD is the focus point of a given day and each WOD is different. In the WOD we combine several functional movements and perform them at high intensity. In the CrossFit training program, intensity refers to the level of effort you put into your workouts. This means pushing yourself to perform the movements as quickly and efficiently as possible, while maintaining proper form and technique. This makes our training program efficient, effective and down right rewarding.
At CrossFit Vastberaden Amsterdam we use all of our 10 years plus knowledge and experience for developing fun and challenging WODs. Each WOD will be different: in the length of the workout, the exercises we combine or by mixing in skills. We also make sure that each WOD is adaptable to the level of each of our members. So our program is fresh, varied and fun for CrossFitters at all levels.

All our classes are led by our experienced coaches, who all have completed the Vastberaden Coaches Development Program. We set up this program to ensure the top quality of our lessons. We have set a maximum of 15 people per class. This way, you will receive a lot of personal attention at every workout. On our website, you can sign up for a time slot that suits you!
Our coaches are key to our success. We offer five-star CrossFit in Amsterdam, but our coaches make it six! They lead inspiring and challenging classes and will help you reach your goals in your own pace. Your CrossFit trainer professionally prepares classes and creates a good atmosphere in the box. The coaches take care of detail and always keep an eye on your personal needs. You will work with the coach on technique and injury prevention every class. As part of your membership you will also have a Personal Coach. In the first months of your membership they will help you get the most out of your membership by informing you about the tools and services we provide to our members. This ranges from tools to track your progress to things like physiotherapy, nutrition advice and reminding you to sign up for seminars and events. In return, you can ask them anything you want to know about CrossFit!
If you want to start CrossFit lessons with us, you’ll start with a 2-week trial. If you decided that you want to join our community, you can choose between regular and unlimited membership. Which membership is best for you depends on what you want to achieve. Training 2 or 3 times a week is enough for reaching allround fitness, as long as you are consistent. Sounds like you? All members have a personal coach who can answer all their fitness and nutrition related questions. As part of your membership you can participate in our own in-house competition and the biggest sports event in the world: The CrossFIt Games Open! On top of that we organise multiple seminars each year to work on specific skills like running, rope climbing, powerlifting, olympic weightlifting or gymnastics.
After a CrossFit training session you can use our free showers with complimentary soap and shampoo. One more extra: you can park for free for 90 minutes directly under the gym! Did you know we share our building with an in-house physio, a fantastic coffee bar and a yoga studio?
When you are pregnant it is still possible to join CrossFit classes. We’d even recommend that you continue to remain active during pregnancy. You will stay fit and it also leads to a steady weight gain in the later stages of your pregnancy. What’s more: you increase the chances of a swift recovery if you are very fit when you go into labor. So keep doing CrossFit when you are pregnant! Our coaches are here for you, they can also assist you during your pregnancy. They are trained in adjusting the training program to the specific needs of each trimester. Are you expecting? Let us know! Of course we will handle your information confidentially. We’ll see how you feel and adapt the program to what it is that you can do. In doing so, you can join our classes until well into your pregnancy.
Twelve to sixteen weeks after giving birth you can start training CrossFit again. In the weeks leading up to that we advise you to work with a pelvic floor therapist and start with light exercise like hiking and bodybuilding. Before coming back to group classes it is very beneficial to work 1-on-1 with our coaches first. This way we can prepare your body and you for the demands of returning to everyday life and our group classes of course! A pregnancy and delivery have a big impact on your body, so when you are ready to come back to full training we’ll start carefully and responsibly. Our coaches will adjust the program for you and step by step increase the intensity of your exercises. You will gradually regain your fitness and you’ll be back to your pre-partum fitness level as soon as possible!
As you might have gathered by now the community is a big aspect of training at CrossFit Vastberaden. Sharing challenging workouts with a group of mixed people is one of the main reasons the majority of our members keep coming back. Every year we have The Open Super Teams, our own version of the CrossFit Games Open. Three Fridays in a row we will gather at the box for our own twist of the biggest sports competition in the world. As part of a team you’ll complete a workout and a fun assignment. You will score points every week and the team that tops the list after three weeks wins eternal fame. And then there’s time for celebrations and drinks… at our OpenST afterparty! Did we already mention that you’ll also get an awesome team shirt? A truly unique experience you will never forget!
And then there is the Vastberaden Throwdown! It’s the fittest and funnest event of the year! Our annual in-house competition has three divisions to make sure every member can join if they want to. The day kicks off at 8:30 am and lasts till 6 pm. We promise you it’ll be a fantastic day full of fitness and fun. Bring your friends and family along and show them what you’ve got!
